St. Patrick’s Themed Foods

I love how easy this holiday is with just adding a splash of green food coloring to it to be festive!

One of the things I love about St. Patrick was he used the shamrock to explain the holy trinity to all the people he’d preach to. So in a fun and tasty fashion I’d make shamrock pancakes to tuck into their other ‘coin’ pancakes.

The luck of the pancake

These aren’t as hard as you might think. I just take my scoop and make and X with the batter then once it spreads and just about stops I add the last little bit left in the scoop for the stem.

Green chocolate goodness

I made life easy on myself for this one and just used a box cake mix and dumped a couple big handfuls of dark chocolate chips and dumped it all into a WELL greased bunt pan. Once it was cooled I added about 2 cups of powder (confectionery) sugar and a couple good blobs of food coloring and a nice splash of vanilla and mixed that up a bit then I slowly added water until I had a slow warm caramel ribbon consistency and drizzled that on. (I know these are such precise measurements…but hey this is to be a quick fun let the kids be kids don’t worry about it kind of cake)

Extras:

  • you can literally add greed food coloring to so much like their milk, eggs, ect. and then you can add things to their meals like green shacks …my kids love them and I’m talking about the mostly veggie kind with some fruits to sweeten it up kind
  • for the cake you’ll want to keep it on the cooling rack but put a piece of parchment/wax/foil under it to catch all the run off drizzles
  • I used some sprinkles I had from Christmas and let the oldest add some to the top after it stopped dripping a good bit

Till then Enjoy and God Bless
