Goodness did my little ones just absolutely LOVE this sensory bin. It was a huge winner for all three of my kiddos and the mess really wasn’t that bad. I used old left over toys from our Halloween bowl (we don’t do candy just fun toys) and just a bag of eye balls I found at a recent trip to the store.
I ended up cutting off the ring part to the spiders just to make them a little more challenging to find and pick up though.
First I just laid all the items in the bottom of a larger tupperwear bin I had. Then I spilled the beans over it and closed the lid to await for the next days school book work to be done. I found these super fun skeleton hand at the $Tree which just makes it extra fun.
The whole thing cost me about $7 to make, but gave me almost 2 hours of entertainment on day one. (We’ll see how much more it gives later on.)
This is such a great fine motor skills activity, with counting, and sensory work, and so much more. Play is a GREAT way for children to learn.
Extras:
- This came from Fireflies and Mud Pies https://www.firefliesandmudpies.com/halloween-sensory-bin/?fbclid=IwAR01rSId9uXOVBLJxD6qXoGkgzdkCVi2oiRFbeB5sTn30erEjG8j1GoBgEQ
- To set this up again just either take a good bit of the beans out or slide them to the edge and fold over. They tend to pop back up when you’re trying to push others into the bin.
- Make sure you remember how many, and of what you put in the bin. One reason it helps the children count and learn, but also so you don’t lose anything that might be a choking hazard for smaller ones.
Till then God Bless and Enjoy!
