Fun Lunch Ideas

Our children live off of breakfast and lunch, and dinner could be forgotten all together if it wasn’t for pasta and pizza. (Even still those could be lunch easily anyways!). Because of this I myself get sick of making them the same thing over and over and try and find small things that aren’t a big pain and don’t take up a lot of time or create waste. I know I’m lucky in the fact that if I cut the crust off my kiddos will eat it, and that not all are so lucky.

So let me just toss a few examples out for you then I’ll list some tips and tricks I have.

Single Color and Cutouts

Let Lunch and Dessert Be One

Tips and Tricks:

  • If you have the kids sandwich cutters great if not and you just have cookie cutters that works just fine. We have both and I think they work the same.
  • Don’t be afraid/worried to be unconventional with your choices. Kids will be kids and make it unconventional anyways.
  • If it’s nice out and you can TAKE THEM OUTSIDE. Clean up is so much easier and you’ll be able to let them burn energy faster and get them that vitamin D sooner. (don’t a picnic table then use a blanket or card table or whatever…heck we’ve have picnics on steps before)
  • On a sturdy piece of bread smear some peanut butter and drizzle on honey and top with a few mini chocolate chips. (Bread: Multigrain, Natural peanut butter, local honey {best for spring time allergies anyways!}, then the good old fashion generic chips)
  • Look at the $1 spots at the stores and on site like Amazon for inexpensive fun lunch stuff. Found these ant pics at the $1 spot at Target about 2 years ago.
  • This is up to you but I personally feel the whole “Less is more” vibe when it comes to fun lunch stuff. Only to help you to actually use it and not be bombarded with stuff, or spend a ton.
  • A lot of the times I’ll have them tell me “What’s the letter of lunch today”, or “What’s the color theme for lunch today”. (ex: C-for carrots, {grilled}cheese, clementines OR Yellow-Mac and cheese, yellow peppers, and banana)

Till Then Enjoy and God Bless
