I’ve been doing this trick for quite a few years for all my kiddos. My 5yo STILL loves this (why there is 3 haha). This is great for sevreal reasons.
- They are working on their fine motor skill, which is great for their brains.
- They eat slower and more controlled, which is great for their little bellies and teaches better digestion.
- Give them some practice with decision making. Eat the sweet now and you wont have one later, or wait till the end to enjoy it last.
You can really add anything you’d like. I try for fruit, veggie, protein, and a carb. Here’s what I had put in this time. We needed to go shopping so the pickings were slim. (also why they got this vs a sandwich 🙂
- oranges
- sourdough pretzel
- craisins
- sugar snap peas
- almonds
- animal crackers
- trail mix
- an Easter addition oreo
