We’re so blessed to have children that love fruits and veggies, but with that they are so hungry pretty often becuase those foods burn off quickly with their constant movement.
To keep things fun and interesting I will let the kids eat on a blanket in the living room and watch a movie. They think this is so neat and such a fun treat becuase it’s not all the time and it’s something out of the norm.
This particular time they got another indoor picnic becuase after the long 2 plus hour hike on a trail they were famished and the movie snack they requested grew larger and larger.
When we got home I opened the fridge and just started to pull a bunch of things we had and prepare it for consumption. I quickly realized that a crudite platter was the way to go. So I pulled out my largest plastic fun party one I owned and put it all together in a nice spread for them.
I just love how sweet my babies can be. As I set the blanket down and laid the tray in the middle they said said ‘what a great mom’ I was and that they loved me. If only all of child rearing was as easy as getting praise for serving veggies on a blanket. HA
Extra:
- I’d have added cheese and nuts but they had those in their lunch while walking the trail before hand.
- for these I like to make sure I have more veggies and fruits, something salty such as pretzels or chips, then some protein, and since it was our 2pm quite movie time a little sweet treat with some caramel popcorn
- Just use whatever you have and whatever your kiddos will eat.
- My scavengers ate almost the entire platter before the movie was over then the finished the adult size handful of things before dinner
- the platter I purchased from the $1 Tree during the summer when they have a bunch of BBQ kind of things. We love to eat in our back yard so I try to stock up
- This is also great to teach them sharing and just enjoying a meal together. My husband I love doing this for dinner. Eating from the same plate just brings out more love somehow.
Till then Enjoy and God Bless!
